Today marks the first day of my very first blog post!
Pretty special, huh? I thought so, that's why I chose to blog about something that I am extremely passionate about...
What it means to me to live a healthy and fit lifestyle.
Now the keyword here is "LIFESTYLE" I do not believe in diets and I don't just workout occasionally. Eating healthy and working out, IS my life and my sanity. You may be thinking... She must have a lot of free time to keep up with this lifestyle. The truth is, I am always busy, I own three companies, have three children and a husband who works a lot. No matter what, I make sure that I give myself time, once a day to do me. Taking time for myself to work on ME is the best thing I could have ever done, not only for me but for my family as well.
You've all heard the saying "If mama ain't happy, then no one is happy." There is some truth here. Taking some time for a workout or even a meditation sesh if i'm just not feeling like getting my sweat on that day, realigns my aura and allows me to think and react with a clear calm head.
Let's face it, we live in a fast paced world filled with external stressors, negativity and anger. It's easy to get caught up in it sometimes, my feeling is the better I can feel about myself, both internally and externally, the happier and less negative person I will be.
Eating a well balanced diet is also a very large piece of my puzzle. For years I struggled with dietary issues, bloating, arthritis, fatigue, rashes, the list goes on and it's not pretty. I finally began looking at what I was REALLY putting into my body. After some personal studies of trial and error, I came to the conclusion that I have an intolerance to tomatoes and gluten. I also choose to cut out poultry, red meat, all nightshade vegetables, fried and processed foods and I limit my starch intake.
Now your probably thinking well, what the heck do you eat?!?! I enjoy an array of fruits, vegetables, quinoa and brown rice. I eat fish, nuts and eggs for my main proteins.
I completely get it if some of you are thinking that I am a bit crazy with my dietary choices, heck even my husband cannot for the life of him understand how I put these restrictions on myself. However, I don't look at them as restrictions, I am not what you would call a "foodie" eating to me isn't a luxury its sustainability. That's not to say I don't like food, because I do. I'm not going to lie, I look forward to my Sunday cheat day where I have an ice cream cone. My point is you have to have balance in everything you do. Balance is the key to living a happy healthy lifestyle and enjoying every minute of it.
"Balance is the key to everything. What we do, think, say, eat, feel, they all require awareness and through this awareness we can grow." - Koi Fresco
